From starter to teamlead: Joey about his career at Wilting

Teamleider logistiek Wilting - Joey

After earning a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in Nijmegen and a master’s in Marketing Management in Tilburg, the then 23-year-old Eindhoven native Joey Leenen wasn’t immediately certain about which role he wanted to pursue in the workforce. Through a recruiter, Joey ended up at Wilting, which turned out to be a perfect match. Joey has now been with the company for two years and has already followed an impressive career path in a short time. We spoke with Joey about what it’s like to work at Wilting and his plans for the future.

How has your career at Wilting progressed so far?
“Towards the end of 2022, I joined Wilting as a Supply Chain Planner. I worked in that role for about a year, during which I got to know the company, the systems, and my colleagues very well. After that year, I started to feel like I was missing a challenge, but I still really enjoyed working at Wilting. I brought this up with my manager, and together we explored the possibilities for growth within Wilting. At that time, the move to our new location at Habraken in Veldhoven was also underway, and I was given the opportunity to oversee the warehouse setup and the physical relocation as a Logistics Engineer.

At the beginning of 2023, I also started having internal discussions about the possibility of becoming a team leader. This eventually resulted, after the relocation, in my current role as Logistics Team Leader, which I’ve held for two months now. It’s an amazing opportunity, and I’m very grateful to have received it.”

What does your current role as Logistics Team Leader entail?
“I currently manage a team of about 10 colleagues and am involved in various projects, such as optimizing processes and finalizing the warehouse setup. Additionally, I handle the day-to-day tasks associated with leading a team, and I’m also pursuing training for this. I particularly enjoy the organizing, managing, and dynamic nature of the work. My challenge is to ensure my team can keep moving forward, which I find very rewarding.”

What makes working at Wilting so appealing?
“I could have chosen to look elsewhere after that year in supply chain, but I still really enjoy working at Wilting. If you show what you’re capable of here, you’re given the opportunity to grow. The relocation project, in particular, was a great challenge, and the fact that I was then given the chance to become a team leader at this age demonstrates that Wilting truly provides opportunities for development.

Moreover, despite its growth, Wilting still feels like a family business, and I really appreciate that. Everyone here works for the company and for each other, and together, we achieve great things!”
